North Korea held a series of cultural events and meetings during February 10 to February 16 to mark the Day of the Shining Star, or birth anniversary of late DPRK leader Kim Jong Il (a biogaphy of Kim Jong Il is available there).
The performance began with National Anthem. Put on the stage were famous songs praising the great man such as prelude “Cantata to Comrade Kim Jong Il“, female chorus “Shine, Jong Il Peak”.
Other songs such as female quartet “His Life” and light music “General, Here Is the Forefront” were displayed. Below a videoclip of “Cantata to Comrade Kim Jong Il“. Performances were realized by the Wangjaesan Music Band. The band was established by the North Korean leader Kim Jong-il on 22 July 1983. This band is managed by the Organization and Guidance Department of the KWP.
Later a banquet was given at the People’s Palace of Culture Tuesday, the 74th birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il. Present there were Kim Yong Nam (SPA Secretary) Pak Pong Ju (Prime Minister of the DPRK) and other senior party (such as O Su Yong), state (Kim Yong Chol: secretary for Inter Korean relations) and army officials (Pak Yong Sik,…), the chairperson of a friendly party (Kim Yong Dae: Chairman of the Korean Social Democratic Party Central Committee), officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies. Present were also Kim Pyong Hae (Senior Director of the OGD) and Ro Tu Chol (PRK Vice Premier).
