Kim-Trump summit in Singapore

According to the South Korean newspaper “Joongangilbo”, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump both arrived in Singapore on Sunday, setting the stage for their historic summit in the Southeast Asian nation on Tuesday 12/6.

Before leaving Pyongyang, Kim Jong-un setting out on a historic foreign tour was seen off by Kim Yong-nam (the de facto head of state of North Korea), Choe Ryong-hae and Pak Pong-ju, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the CC WPK, and Yang Hyong-sop, Ri Myong-su, Kim Su-gil, Ri Yong -gil, Pak Kwang-ho, Kim Phyong-hae, An Jong-su, Pak Thae-song, Choe Pu-il, Ro Tu-chol, Choe Hwi and Pak Thae-dok, members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the CC WPK.

Kim Jong-un arrived through air Air China airplane. Thus, China has supported North Korea’s attendance at 12/6 summit, also through its airspace security.

An Air Koryo IL-62 flying from Pyongyang through China was also en route to Singapore. Kim Yo-jong, the sister of Kim Jong-un, took this plane.

The leaders were each scheduled to meet separately with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Kim met with Lee on Sunday evening 10/6. Trump’s meeting was scheduled for Monday 11/6.

The North Korean leader was accompanied by Kim Yong-chol, the vice chairman of the North Korean Workers’ Party’s Central Committee, who is in charge of inter-Korean affairs; Ri Su-yong (aka Ri Chol), director of the Central Committee’s International Department, Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho, Senior diplomat Choe Kang-il, No Kwang-chol, (recently promoted in the KPA) alternate member of the Political Bureau of the CC WPK,  Kim Yo-jong, alternate member of the Political Bureau and first vice department director, Choe Son-hui, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Unification Bureau officer Kim Sung-hae, and members of the CC WPK and the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK.. They were welcomed by Kim Chol-man, the NK ambassador to Singapore.

Hyon Song-wol, the leader of North Korea’s Samjiyon Orchestra, who has been at the forefront of recent inter-Korean cultural exchanges, was also spotted with the North’s entourage along with the leader’s younger sister Kim Yo-jong.
